Dream Eater
Not a fan of found footage but this movie ended up being a solid surprise. Really cool idea with some more then decent scares throughout. Honestly the scariest thing about this movie was a whistle throughout the movie. Incredibly unsettling and a perfect addition to the movie.
I really like diving into Parasomnia adding in this terrifying version of it. Granted I know it can actually be violent in real life. Its an aspect that I never really seen used in a horror movie before. At least to this effect.
The negatives are always going to be that's it found footage. I'm of the camp that Blair witch is incredibly overrated and overhyped. There are few found footage movies I actually like. The whole idea anyone would keep it rolling that long is insane. This movie does a decent job to explain why its needed but eventually its just bullshit.
The Character Mallory, also played by Mallory Drum; is not the best actress. She struggles with conveying emontion, and being scared. Especially when you really need her to. She just wasn't believable. Being scared is a lot harder then people realize and its definitely a talent.
They go a little too deep into the story to point it got cliched. I won't spoil but there's some choices that every supernatural movie does nowadays. Its so repetitive, and I just can't stand seeing it anymore. Also could have done without the ending is all ill say.
In the end, definitely a better then expected found footage horror movie. That offers scares and a interesting idea. Oh and don't forget that chilling whistle!
