Obsession
Holy shit, I haven't been that tense watching a movie in awhile. This movie had me F'd leaving the theater to going home. I can't remember the last time a horror movie had me scared to go home. Just incredibly unsettling, and anxiety filled.
Shoutout to Michael Johnston who sucked me into this movie with his social awkwardness. I am someone who is
socially awkard so I appreciated how well he put that to screen. BUT the major shoutout goes to Inde Navarrette who has a star making performance. One of the scariest performances I've ever seen. There is a "no" scene that I still can't get past.
Lastly, the director Curry Barker absolutely delivers in this movie. From the jump scares, social awkwardness, obsession type themes throughout; he just nailed it. This movie hits you with constant dread and never let's you breath once your in it. Which is perfect because F'd obsessive relationships can be so toxic and suffocating. It just puts that to screen so well.
Also how this movie plays with darkness and shadows was incredibly brilliant. It made Navarrette that much more terrifying.
I do believe this movie is a must see, but in the same respect it's not for everyone.
