Priscilla
What a snap shot of scenes throughout a person's life. Well done Sofia Coppola! Sofia makes you feel every scene, as if everything counts. This movie is a snap shot of moments, it's not a certain moment in time. It's many moments to show what it was like being with Elvis Presley.
First off great performances by the leads, Cailee Spaeny, and Jacob Erlodi. I believe my first movie with Cailee in it, and she definitely delivers. Jacob Erlodi is a star in the making. From Euphoria, to saltburn and now this. He delivers everytime!
This movie at times is a tough watch. What Elvis put Priscilla through from the very beginning was insane. He always made her feel like he was the important one, and want she wanted didn't matter. He always wanted to be in control, whenever possible. Sofia does a great job of putting the spotlight on Priscilla and showing what the significant other can deal with when dating someone famous. It's not all fun, and in this case very little fun. Not to mention that Elvis was 24 when he met Priscilla, who was 14.
Negatives: At times was wishing for a bit more, but I also know this movie didn't call for it. At times you could lost in scenes when it bounced around so quickly. Especially when you went from a sad scene back to a happy scene. Granted I also know that was the point.
In the end, this movie is really important to show that you can get out of shitty situations. Shows that you can indeed get out, don't stay. That message alone makes this movie special. See this for great directing, performances, and this very interesting but hard to get through story on Priscilla.
