The Aviator
A Biopic that really works, with plenty of great performances. Scorese does a great job of showing the ups and downs of Howard Hughes. He makes it known that he wasn't a good person. He has major flaws, but also showed what he meant to Aerospace, and also filmmaking of the time.
The two performances that standout is obviously Dicaprio and Cate Blanchett. Both nominated for oscars, Cate actually won best supporting for her role as Katherine Hepburn. She was fantastic, and really brought Katherine to life. As a very energetic and boisterous personality that also has her flaws as a human. Obviously Dicaprio was great as well as Howard Hughes. The scene of Howard falling apart in that room where he wouldn't come out was incredible acting. Again Dicaprio could have won most other years if he didnt have to go against Jamie Foxx.
Scorese also does a really good job of making Aerospace not boring. I always felt intrigued for most of the movie. With that being said as any Biopic there we're times in the beginning you felt the length of the movie. Biopic are so tough because they gotta be long to cover a person's life even if its a portion. So your somewhat jamming a bunch of stuff into a 3 hour movie.
In the end, A Biopic that definitely works and makes the material and person very interesting.
