The Conjuring
An absolute modern horror classic, that proves building atmosphere always works better then heavy cgi monsters. Perfect casting of the Warren's as well. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson give magical performances as the real life paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorrain.
With that being said James Wan is the star here with his amazing ability to build tension, and fear without doing a whole lot. On top of that this movie still has stand out moments that give you chills.
In the end, I wish James Wan was doing the new one!
