Highlights January 25

January has passed, and I wanted to squeeze in some films before starting my new job at Banedanmark as a Trafic Manager. That means a lot of studying and time in the classroom, which unfortunately leaves less room for films. But while I had the chance, I managed to watch 10 movies this month. My goal is to hit at least 53 films by the end of the year. I had a couple of rewatches of the fun Palm Springs, another loop day film. I even got my wife to join in, and since she absolutely loved The Map of Tiny Perfect Things last month, Palm Springs was an easy sell. And of course, we also had to watch Edge of Tomorrow for some loop day action. I finally watched The Shape of Water, an Oscar winner for Best Picture – captivating and delightfully quirky. May December was a quiet yet visually stunning film that left plenty to think about – who is the real victim, and are multiple people crossing the line? I also checked out another courtroom drama in the vein of 12 Angry Men: Juror No. 2, featuring a strong lead performance from Nicholas Hoult. Last but not least, I have to highlight The Fall Guy – a fun action film that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the film industry and the stunt performers we often forget about while watching a movie. All in all, a great month filled with good films, rewatches with the kids, and a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship that can pull you out of the daily grind.
