Highlights March 25

So many films, so little time. It’s a joy to dive into the world of cinema, and March was no exception. There were some truly great films this month. The Father was a beautiful piece of work. I had to surrender to a few tears during Anthony Hopkins’ portrayal of a man in the grip of dementia. Outstanding performances all around – it really hit me. The same goes for Beautiful Boy, which explores the relationship between a father and son in a world where addiction takes hold. Heart-wrenching and incredibly tough to watch. In Prisoners, Hugh Jackman races against time to find his kidnapped daughter – and against becoming a monster himself in the desperate pursuit of justice. After several emotionally heavy films, it felt good to lighten things up with some beautiful, quirky, and funny ones. I finally crossed Some Like It Hot off my list of unseen classics, and I don’t regret it one bit. Midnight in Paris was also a lovely experience, with Owen Wilson strolling through the charm of old Paris. There had to be room for something weird too – and Self Reliance delivered perfectly. It leaves you questioning the main character’s sanity and whether what you just saw happened in his mind or in reality… Watch it and decide for yourself.
