Ghost in the Shell

this movie is so stunning, I don’t know what kind of crack was in the water during this era of animation but it hits. this is on par with Akira for me. However I did feel a little let down by the plot and theme exploration in it, it felt very surface level and sort of hard to connect with and the plot itself was hard to follow and kinda just uninteresting. but I do feel as though there’s a lot more to this movie than I was able to grasp or appreciate on a first watch alone, I definitely want to rewatch it asap and sit with it a bit longer to really let it sink in. I think viewing it without the burden of trying to grasp the overarching plot will allow those themes and character explorations to absorb more than they did the first time around. overall a fantastic time, and I’m absolutely in love with Motoko. definitely need to check out more GITS just for her.
