read the book a few years ago and thought it was a good debut novel. but this adaptation is shit from an ass. the constant fourth wall breaks (when i could have rewatched fleabag.) the awful college scenes (when i could have rewatched after the hunt). the constant text message bubbles flying across the screen. the weird, misplaced top 40 needle drops. i love miss weisz, but she’s acting in an entirely different miniseries. is that her fault? is it the show’s fault? i don’t care. as someone who loves the Middle-Age-Woman-with-So-Much-to-Lose-and-Develops-a-Crush-on-an-Average-Younger-White-Man genre, i don’t know who this show is for. it’s a waste of 4 hours when it could have been a 90 minute movie, or nothing at all.
