Interstellar
Ykw Interstellar is impeccable in many ways, but upon rewatch you realize just how much the story is carried by the emotional beats. I thought to myself, would this be as impactful as it is without the emotional father-daughter relationship of it all? It'd still be an exceptional sci-fi film with beautiful production and a suspenseful story, but that's not what sells it. And that's where the .5 star loses me.
It's not to say that I don't thoroughly enjoy watching it, or that I get bored while watching it, but it is to say that between the two main storylines featured in this film — the space adventure and the relationship between Cooper and Murph — the emotional plotline ever so slightly compensates to strengthen the action.
