Hal & Harper
I need to make sure I watch everything that Cooper Raiff makes. From Shithouse onwards to this, he has proven to me, at such a young age, that he can make films with such genuine emotions. The characters here are so full-formed and greatly performed alongside a screenplay, with some messy elements, that get totally disregarded when you get hit with a multitude of beautifully raw moments of relatable humanity. I think the show was almost a 4.5 throughout the watch as I was unsure if I was really thinking the structure was working --- it felt it was meant for a movie --- and...eh, maybe it could still work better that way --- but...the ending really puts that final puzzle piece in.
This show is a lot to take in. Amidst it's lightness and silly antics from Hal, I was also brought some of the saddest moments in media for me this year as many moments brought tears to my eyes. A must watch show.
