Barry Lyndon
This film was a masterclass in most forms possible and seriously left me speechless by the beauty.
Kubricks has never failed to make a beautiful film. He truly is the greatest to ever do it. Barry Lyndon is about a man’s journey climbing the ranks, climbing the class structure and untimely about love, and hatred.
We follow Barry Lyndon as he runs from the past and runs from his past acts and we see many things happen to him along his journey that could make us question what kind of man Barry Lyndon is, and he is a bad guy.
The beauty of this film left me speechless and shocked by what Kubrick has to offer and most of the stills could very much be painting hung up in an art gallery.
The lighting used in this film is very interesting. There’s a lot of natural light used during many scenes such as candle light in a room. This lighting technique give dream vibes to the film and a very gloomy look to it.
The first thought I had while watching the film was “Wow this is heavy” there so many themes going on and emotions shared throughout the film and it gave me a sense of dread and sadness. Kubrick never fails on that end.
I just had to mention the set and costume design. Definitely the best I have ever seen in a film. The costumes the characters use are so amazing and cool and the sets are beautiful looking and feel so real.
