12 Angry Men

Gotta love it how every debate I have with someone about capital punishment ends in them scrunching their face at the mere point of “a huge proportion of people put on death row have had their cases reevaluated and found to be falsely accused and murdered by the state”. Somehow systemic injustice is just an unfathomable thing to those who defend capital punishment so vehemently. Watching this movie, this is not a fantastical script, this is not a satire of how injustice is prolonged by the same people who’ve been conditioned into either prejudices or ignorance. This is a movie depicting exactly how incompetent the jury systems have been made to be, and if it weren’t for the hero character of the script (of which must surely have been rarer in real cases) a child would’ve been put to death for insufficient evidence. Loved this movie.
