Malcolm X
Spike Lee’s depiction of Malcolm X is truly one of the greatest epics aspired to, especially by a filmmaker who has poured so much heart and passion into creating a nuanced portrait and an unrelenting yet respectful critique and simultaneous homage to one of the greatest figures of modern history.
The unabashed courage to explore the complex and evolving moral compasses of a man who was labelled an extremist by some, a hero by others, and even a terrorist at points of his life, is a skill only enviable that manifests itself in what could the best overtly-political, epic biopic.
