Twelve Monkeys
Don’t worry Jordon, when this comes back for the Ritz’s cult classic selection we are undoubtedly rewatching it.
Normally I’m not the biggest fan of sci-fi, I think it just doesn’t have the same punch that other genres typically do, and requires much more to have the same compelling effect as other genres.
Especially for a doomsday-time-travel movie, it was surprisingly brilliant. Regardless, from the beginning I knew I’d likely end up giving it a good review, purely because of how stylised it is and how strangely cool it looks. Little did I know, it would get fucking weird.
As a lover of weird movies and weird things, this is one of the strangest movies I’ve seen in a while and it’s a swing that I know will work for very few people but I was just unflinchingly engrossed. So many questions, so many things I still want to know, but presented in a way that doesn’t seem gratuitous, but intentional. It’s a movie that deserves a rewatch (yes Aidan and Mila I get it now), and I’m so happy I took a break from working to witness this flash bomb of confusion. Would recommend to any other weirdos out there.
