Magical and mesmerizing. One of those films which can't really be understood on the first watch. I am not even sure I will get it completely on a rewatch. A huge mess in a beautiful way. Five different stories interwoven into one film. Apparently the five stories talk about five senses and also show them in different periods of Chinese film history.This film traveses and explores different genres in the five stories. First one- german expressionism (sight) Second one- film noir (hearing) Third one- Mythology/folklore (taste) Fourth one- Con drama (smell) Fifth one- Vampire romance (Body) Extremely well crafted film by Bi gan, would have been hell of an experience to watch it in a theatre but it was not released in India.
