Superman
I revere Superman. I grew up like a lot of boys imitating the way he flies, the cape he has, and sometimes the goodness he embodies. This movie was able to make me feel like that again and more.
Corenswet is charming. Very, very charming. His Superman is kind, his intentions are pure, his smile is dazzling, and his mere presence is comforting. A real proper Big Blue Boy Scout. An ideal that so many young boys do look up to with 101% earnestness.
This review is less about the movie and more about Superman to be honest. Objectively, it has some glaring flaws. A sort of bloated cast, a plot that can be a bit contrived, and dialogue that can be a bit hamfisted. But I don't care about that. This movie is honest but hopeful. It understands that Superman is supposed to be kind, trusting so much so that it's taken advantage of -- a vulnerability that his villains will pick and prod at until he breaks. But he won't. Because he's Superman :-).
I've been feeling so down in the dumps with everything that's happening in the world, in my life, and the powerlessness that comes with only being in control of only x amount of variables. Loved this and the way it made me feel. I aim to be kinder and to be more brazen about this kindness. Just one foot right in front of the other, even if I don't fucking see the destination just yet.
