Hereditary
I think some of the imagery is a little heavy handed. But this is still a really devastating and painful experience. One with some of the most captivating performances by Toni Colette, Alex Wolff, and Gabriel Byrne, score by the genius Colin Stetson, production design by Grace Yun, and cinematography by Pawel Pogorzelski. I admire all these people so much, and I feel like I don’t need to go into how much I adore Aster at this point. The craft of this film is just mind blowing to me. Still gets under my skin like not much else. Felt like my heart was gonna pound out of my chest during the nightmare scene with Annie and Peter. It’s on this watch though I realised this isn’t my favourite Aster, I gave this film a lot of credit because of how terrifying it is, but I think his other films have more interesting things to say in general. I won’t ever turn on this film though.
