Jaws

There’s a reason why JAWS is one of the best movies and WOW it is.  First off this movie is so unbelievably gorgeous, like there’s moments where I simply was floored it’s unreal what do you mean you had a shooting star in your shot? Like you’re kidding. What the HELL?  The colour is gorgeous, framing amazing, it’s like every bit of the movie was created to emphasize a light flowy continuity. It’s impressive, it’s ridiculous, I literally feel like this was what movies are made for.  I never watched this movie until now but I understand the dick riding for it. I’m now dick ridding the movie too, because WOW. Just WOW. Everyone in this movie made it perfect. Every choice for this movie made it the gorgeous piece you see, yes the direction is phenomenal of course (I’ve never felt more like my mind has shifted on how you can make a shot not feel crowded) but I have to really give it up for whoever had the mindset and awareness of colour blocking. This movie never makes a frame feel crowded, it’s the first thing I picked up on, the ends of the frames are always blue. Either a person wearing blue or the environment to give a flow throughout. Take the town hall scene the mayor friends all wearing lighter colours to the right while the chief is darker middle left drawing your eye to the chief while having a shot feel light. It’s actually gorgeous.  Blue works in this movie like it’s going for an award. The colour&blocking in jaws is inspiring. Oh my god I need to now know everything on how choices were made for each bit of this movie because that was the most impressive thing visually I have seen and I need to make things look like that.  The story was great, it’s yk simple(positive) the actors relationships are sweet in this. There’s an affection for every person interacting with each other that just feels sweet, bright, it sparks. “Give us a kiss” “why?” “Because I need it” how cute! how sweet! I think that line is my favourite aside from obviously the famous one “give me a smile you son of a bitch”. Hopper by far is my favourite character mostly because yeah he definitely inspired an entire type of guy and I respect seeing the originator on my screen. What type of guy? Some white transman that’s the father of white Tmen with a niche interest. I loved seeing him sarcastically laugh and rile the chief up like they’ve been friends for years, Hopper moves around a scene like he’s always been there but the cast are magnetic to each other it’s so good. that shot of Quint on the rails sun setting smiling at him made ME go crazy with how gorgeous it was. Again I’m repeating myself but I am not over the colour, shots, and blocking.  I adore the pace of this movie, I adore the suspense of especially the shark. It’s great, it’s how you should feel! That something is pulling you in making you gasp making you ooo and ah without seeing its full potential immediately.  I need to see this on a movie screen, there’s magic in this movie for real.
