Primal Fear
Okay this was not what I was expecting. I thought I caught the twist in the first 30 minutes. Multiple personalities, easy peasy lemon squeezy, was already thinking of a joke about how Edward Norton always has multiple personalities.
Sadly I wont be able to (or I shouldn’t be able to) but because I’m salty I’m saying the joke either way:
If I had a coin for every time Edward Norton has played someone with multiple personalities, I’d have 3, which isn’t a lot but it’s funny it happened 3 times already.
Now that my unfunny and unoriginal joke is out of the way, I just wanna talk about how that movie did not only fuck up my joke, but also fucked me up too bru. But first, the more general stuff so this whole review is not just the twist.
It starts off slow, and call me a dumbass but I was kinda lost too. I just knew someone died and this kid was the only suspect, nothing else. But when you get the hang of what’s happening, who’s who and get to know all characters, it gets very good.
Court scenes were really engaging, and the revelations of the churches fucked up shit (why am I not surprised), along with the characters having to decide what to do with all the new information was very thrilling.
And after all that battle, you get to the ending and just think “what a satisfying ending huh? I love it”… then BANG. This dude Aaron slaps you across the face and spits on all your so called knowledge of what was going on. And all your jokes too 😒.
This movie distracts you with the mystery of who the murderer is, their motives, and with Aaron’s multiple personalities, that you lay your guard down and stop looking. But that’s EXACTLY what those fuckers want you to do.
In a 2 minute scene, where he drops that line about the lawyers neck and you realize Aaron never existed—this bitch Aaron-Roy comes up, personally assaults me, and turns the whole movie upside down. You realize he’s been making a fool of the court, the system, Marty, and even you on your damn couch.
Never trust the shy one with a speech problem in these movies, I’m looking at you keyser soze.
