extra ½ star because this is the only movie to have a non spider related scene that i physically cannot watch (seriously how did it get my niche childhood fear?).
honestly my opinion is very biased because the losers are so dear to me and this was one of the first films i ever went to see with friends completely on my own and the first horror movie i went to see to the theater and i got insanely hyperfixated on it lol i debated on whether i should or not give it the queer tag, not because richie is canonically gay in chapter 2, or even because of the found family themes, but because obsessing over eddie kaspbrak at 15 and stupid ass stephen king's accidental queer coding of him (and richie but i'll probably rant about that when i rewatch the second movie) made me work through and figure out so many things about my own queerness. i decided against giving it the tag bc tbh it's only subtext both here and in the book but the thought is there, so ! thanks eddie kaspbrak.
also, watching this being 10 years older than the characters makes me Even more emotional about everything they go through, this is so fucked up </3
