Mid 90s found dead in a ditch.
This is all kinds of great and just another movie I passionately wish existed 10 years ago. There's little that blows me away like a fantastic coming of age movie but this one is not only that, but so much more. The ability to capture every nuance and devestation that is the experience of being young is a gift, may this movie get every accolade. And yes I'm not an East Asian boy, and there are parts/nuances here that are I obviously not my own to ... however I WAS a shy asian kid with a camera I couldn't use, a failed skating fixation and an ability to fold in on myself so this did hit very very close to home. And I imagine it will for countless people. It's content is groundbreaking and will mean so much. Plus there's something so universal that comes from movies that are so specific to one lived experience, I can't entirely explain it. Partially because it doesn't just capture him, it quietly gives nuance to everyone around him. In a way that reminded me so much of Ladybird. This movie is as stressful as a horror movie, devestating, hilarious, clever and oh so sweet. What a script....And good god can this kid act. Alright I'm done raving.
