Heretic
The religious exploration within the movie was very interesting and extremely thought-provoking. I love how the movie explored the idea of belief and how easily one can believe something simply because they’re TOLD to. It’s an idea that’s represented not only by Hugh Grants character (he’s, in a way, an embodiment of religion and when Paxton verbally disagrees with him it could be seen as a representation of the relationship between a lot of people and religion IRL) and the two sisters experience as a whole. More the house. It too, could also be seen as a representation of religion. The girls get trapped inside of it, they feel comfortable at first but when more and more signs present themselves and make them start questioning things, a sense of fight or flight arises with them not knowing which way to go because of what they’ve been told.
This movie could be interpreting in so many different ways and is one that’s constantly gonna be in conversation within the religious horror community. Most definitely 😤🔥
PS: Him and those people from Martyrs would get along quite well 🙂↕️🙂↕️
