the submarine isn’t just a setting its a metaphor for life itself. trapped, pressured from all sides, and moving through darkness toward an uncertain end. the boat symbolises what most people feel internally, the uncertainty of life.  you’re never more alive than when you’re closest to death. the nearness of an end is what sharpens the fact of being there at all.
