The Witch
Robert Eggers' feature debut, in one word, is bleak. From the moment you're forced to witness the sacrifice of a baby not fifteen minutes in, through the remaining 80-ish minutes, every scene feels so tense, so glaringly violent, that a sigh of relief is bound to escape when the only thing being harmed is the relationship between its characters.
