Sinners
Before I go into this, I need whoever is reading this to go watch this because I truly think this will be a film that is looked at for decades, its one of those once in a life time films that tell such a beautiful story while also being beautifully shot.
I'm going to talk about what I thought about the films usage of camera first and then move onto some other things. As I said this film is shot beautifully, every shot felt like I was living and breathing there with the characters, you could feel the palpable tension in every scene with each camera movement! Towards the middle of the film there is in my eyes one of the most impressive long takes I have ever seen in any film, the way they intertwine the audio along as the camera soars through the scene was simply amazing. Along with this the pure editing power to have both Smoke and Stack on screen was something else.
As for the music, the blues have never sounded better. It added such a temperamental tone to the film, allowing it to be sad when needed but also triumphant when we thought there was victory. Beautifully scored throughout the whole film.
There is not one performance in this film that was bad, and each actor absolutely embodied their characters beautifully.
I don't really know how to articulate myself with a film like this, it has such beautiful moments in-between the moments of utter chaos and disarray, Michael B. Jordan proves himself in this character and stands out from his previous roles.
Please see this film, we need more stuff like being made.
