Superman
Superman... it was truly an experience. I had a blast throughout this whole thing. David Corenswet is Superman from the tips of his curly locks down to his boots, that man was made to be our Superman. If you thought Superman was this stoic, stone-faced, badass, no-nonsense, boring character than I really hate to inform you that you have probably only watched Man of Steel and the other crappy Snyder verse stuff, this film right here, it gets Superman down to his god dam DNA. At his roots, Superman is hopeful, corny, whimsical, emotional, but most importantly he is just like us, a person. He is the best of us, and Gunn and all of the cast and crew really understood what Superman stood for and what he represents.
Astounding film from start to finish, each character had a whole lot of love thrown into them, you could see how much research each person did for their parts. Mr. Terrific was a stand out for me, extremely witty and funny! I am a huge Green Lantern fanatic so seeing Guy Gardener on the big screen played by Fillion was a dream come true, that dude is straight up Guy Gardner, my one grip however with the last part of the Justice Gang is Hawk Girl, she didn't have too many lines, I wish she had some more interactions but from what we did get she was great, I just wanted a bit more from her.
The Daily Planet crew kicked ass, Rachel Brosnahan was fantastic, she was charming, assertive, and hit on all cylinders. Same thing for Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, dude is just amazing in everything's he is in.
The other big standout other than David is of course Nicolas Hoult as Lex, simply put he is potentially the best thing in this movie, each scene he is in he dominates it with this megalomaniacal attitude that just oozes off of him, the way he plays with this envious yet brainy character just fits him so perfectly.
James Gunn did a fucking awesome job with this, not just beautiful portrayal of the character but the camerawork and everything just truly lends itself to this film. Loved this movie through and through and I loved its extremely obvious political messaging!
