Queer
My review will probably have spoilers but i don’t want to tag it so warning maybe spoilers:
it took me a while to figure out what i wanted to say about queer, i think for the most part i loved it. my interpretation of queer was not only the experiences of what being queer is about but also mourning for the life you live as queer, the moments of longing and addiction to something out of touch (ie struggling-with-homosexuality situationships) and how lonely it can feel to be queer even in a close community. there were moments where i believe daniel craig’s character viewed drew starkeys character as a reflection of himself in some ways, and that recreation of adam reference (my interpretation) was done sooooo well and captured that moment of reflection. the last like 40 minutes were lowkey like watching a bjork music video but also really well done. I honestly was not expecting as much artsy think piece shots but i kinda loved it, especially the dollhouse scene where the symbolism of the centipede being able to move forward (eugene being able to continue the life he chooses) whereas lee’s conscious (the snake) swallows itself in an infinite loop and repeating that pain, longing for the memory of eugene over and over despite it being an unrequited desire, which would also tie in with lee’s drug use throughout the movie. the subtle nod to 2001 at the end was also tastefully done. i liked this
