Bo Burnham: Inside
“🎶Well, well, look who’s inside again.🎶”
Bo Burnham’s Inside is the swan song of his decade spanning career, capping off his journey as a comedian with a deeply funny but deeply disturbing rock opera film shot entirely in a single room across the course of a global pandemic. I followed Burnham avidly throughout the majority of his career, through his highs and lows, and I do think without a doubt Inside is the best piece of art he’s created, perfectly encapsulating everything he’s worked towards in a messy 87 minutes of someone losing their mind. The cinematography from Burnham is truly stunning, with him able to frame the room in such a delicate, yet haunting manner. We feel just as trapped, and even years after the special released and the pandemic has passed, Inside is just as disturbingly beautiful as it was during its release, for better and for worse.
