Stalker

I’m way too overwhelmed to write a review for this fucking masterpiece, but I can’t help myself. I am so glad I rewatched this, I was not in the right state of mind when I first saw this nearly a year ago. Tarkovsky is one of the best directors to ever live. This film holds such a special place in my heart. There is no way for me to properly describe how I feel after watching this, but I’ll try. I feel defeated. I feel hopeful. I feel sad. I feel hopeless. I feel like crying. I feel like screaming. I feel sick. I feel millions of different things. This is a film that is past the realm of my comprehension. I have no way of knowing what anybody else who has seen this feels about it and the same goes for everybody else. We can try to convey our thoughts but I feel as though that it’s best to let the film work its magic and take hold of its viewers. It’s a work of art. It’s one of the greatest films ever made. It may be slow at times, but I was fully immersed from start to finish. It’s so beautiful. It’s so sad. It says so much. It has really made me think about so many different things. From life to death to faith to love. This perfectly encapsulates all aspects of life. It ponders and contemplates and mediates on so many different things. It’s a surreal experience like no other film I have ever seen. Tarkovsky somehow made a film that feels alien. It feels unreal. I can’t comprehend how a man made this. It’s powerfully beautiful and genuinely scary. The cinematography is honestly the best I’ve ever seen and the haunting sounds/music still make me shiver. I could write paragraph after paragraph after paragraph about this film and it still wouldn’t do it any justice. Watch it for yourself. I’m gonna need to rewatch this many many many times. It’s too good. It’s nothing short of perfect.
