Sinners
What a movie.
I loved this film in its entirety. The characters were great, and played exceptionally by every actor. Miles Caton and Wunmi Mosaku were my favourites I think.
God, the music. I love blues music, and the stuff in this was just elevating. That scene with the spirits was so cool! Also the Irish music too - really fantastic.
The vampires were incredible. So well done, with awesome, scary designs. That they were very liberal was simultaneously hilarious and contributed to the main point so well. Well done Jack O'Connell for a fantastic performance too.
I think that vampires were a perfect tool; literally 'leeches' on a theme of American culture leeching from unique parts of each culture. Back to what I said before, I think that the vampires put across a good point: on the surface a shared culture seems so perfect, but it means that anything unique becomes part of one conglomerate culture. By no means am I suggesting that sharing music, fashion, or anything else is bad at all. I dont think the film was aiming for that either necessarily.
I just think this was so well done and I'd love to see it again. Perfect ending btw; make sure to stay through the first few credits or you'll miss a lot.
If I had to give a criticism it would be that the windows of the last scene were lit by daylight whilst it was supposed to be night, lol.
Excellent - 9/10
