Scream 3

happy 26 years to this criminally underrated movie. some fun and no so fun facts about this movie: The reason this movie has much less blood and gore then the previous 2, is because it was in development around the time of the Columbine massacre. Due to that there was a lot of censorship in horror at the time especially in more teen targeted horror such as scream. They ended up scrapping the original script which included, at the end, all the "Dead" bodies would rise up and reveal that they were all a part of a cult of ghostfaces masterminded by Stu from prison, Matthew Lilllard even got paid for the role before the movie fell through. The movie had a lot of rewrites, which lead to scenes that don't logically make any sense such as, Sydneys chase scene through the stab set it doesn't make sense for her to lock ghostface outside the house, and seconds later he pops back up inside the wardrobe just like In the original, when there is only one killer in this movie. In the original version of the script for the movie we saw, both Roman and Angelina were the killers and dating, which could have been a very interesting to explore Roman dating the woman who was playing his sister in his movie. But midway through production they changed it to only being Roman which is why Angelina is made out to be so suspicious all throughout the movie and strangely appears after attack and death scenes like the house explosion. the opening scene featuring Cottons death was originally longer including him attempting to climb out of the skylight and getting pulled back down into the room. There are many deleted scenes that I think would have actually made the movie better like, there was a scene showing ghost face downloading different voices onto the voice changer establishing and explaining it much earlier in the movie, that would have helped with the very common criticism that the voice changer technology isn't foolproof even now let alone back then. Throughout Sydneys scenes in this movie you can see her still wearing the letter necklace that Derek gave her in scream 2. Many people think that John Miltons character was supposed to be an in universe version of the Weinstein's put in purposefully to try and clue people into the things going on behind the scenes with them. The house that the big finale takes place at is the same house used as the boarding school in halloween h20. In the 3rd act we see Sydney stab Roman with an ice pick, Scott Foleys scream in that scene was real as Neve Campbell missed the protective padding he had on and actually hurt him.
