Saw

#7 spooky season watch “Most people are so ungrateful to be alive. But not you. Not anymore.” This is, without a doubt, one of the best horror movies ever made. Saw is such a brilliantly crafted psychological horror that it’s hard to believe how well it holds up. The story is so well thought out, the characters feel painfully real, and John Kramer… OH MY GOD. He’s a psychotic, yet fascinatingly intelligent mastermind. The way his moral logic plays out through these twisted ‘games’ is chilling and philosophical at the same time. And that ending… John Kramer standing up from the floor, after pretending to be a corpse the entire film (paired with that iconic music cue) is one of the greatest reveals in horror history. I still get chills. This film isn’t just gore and traps, it’s about life and how people waste it. James Wan built something timeless here. Absolutely brilliant direction and perfect writing. A masterpiece of horror.
