Incredibly funny people doing as much as they can to keep this meh story afloat.

A very solid adaptation of the book! It was definitely made in a way that made it easier to understand and so that you were not constantly spoon fed exposition. Wholesome, visually beautiful, and well paced. Even where it differed from what I imagined, I liked the changes.

Hmm I’m torn. There’s something not very engaging about a lot of this movie. My beef maybe lies in the pacing and maybe the lack of depth at times? It’s not a bad movie by any means, but something was kind of missing for a lot of it. It’s still beautiful in its visuals and the Shakespeare family was very believable as a collective. Jessie Buckley is incredible (though occasionally over the top). Paul Mescal really shined in this for me as well. I think what saves the entirety of this for me is watching the play through the eyes of Agnes and her grief. Seeing William’s story brought to life and using art as his outlet to express his deep sorrow was deeply moving. It’s probably the only part that brought me to tears where much of the rest did not (despite usually being a crier). I think I’ll need to sit on that one for a bit! Gotta grapple with the feelings it brings up I suppose!

Not me sobbing in the theater over this cute ass little movie! Great message, genuinely funny, lots of spunk. This is exactly the type of movie we need in these times and that kids should get to enjoy. I hope more people see this in theaters.
