Wow. First thoughts, really well made and good movie. The whole film I wasn't really hored once and kept glued to the screen watching it. I love the acting in this and especially the character Thomas. His connections with the other people in the maze really made their deaths hit harder than other movies before, especially Chuck's death in the end. By the end of this, Dylan O'Brien has rose on my list and I absolutely love his acting. The CGI used in this film as also phenominal. I still don't understahd how they're able to make a whole entire maze and make it look that good.
The cinematography was great. I loved how it was filmed, the plot, and the ending. The idea is something I've never seen before and I have to give credit when credit is due to Wes Ball. As for the plot, really good. Kids get sent to a maze and have to try and find their way out? Such a random but good idea for a film like this and an even better director to help film it. The ending was one of my favorite parts though. I liked that that the clue to get out was hidden inside of a Greiver and if it wasn't for Thomas then it would've never happened in the first place. The like clue-type idea to movies is something I've always loved and it kinda reminds me of The Batman with like clues if that makes sense.
Throughout this film also, Thomas's determination helped him become the backbone of the team and the main reason they got out. His determination was something the camp had never seen and in the end it was something the camp will never see afain as they finally got out. The addition of Teresa wasn't thst bad in my opinion also. Even though she wasn't as big of a character like Thomas or Min-Ho she still helped with like keeping the team together and like helping out with things around the camp I guess. Min-Ho was a character I loved too either because he's asian or just because he had an amazing part in the movie and was asian.
Overall, I really liked this. It showed a good blend of dystopia and sci-fi and made sure to keep you engaged the whole time. The actors in this movie made it so much more better and they fit their characters perfectly. Dylan O'Brien played his role as Thomas so well and every moment on screen for him was really well done. In the end, I hope that this movie can continue through for the Scorch Trials and not be a bust. Hopefully they finally get out and can be free from the maze and its shenanigans once and for all.
