Marty Marty you did it again. My GOAT.
Genuinely can’t believe I never got around to this in 2022 when I first developed the Marty and Gangsta flick craze but it’s instantly one of my favourites even all this time later. I do think it’s a slight step below the upper upper echelon cuts (Goodfellas, The Irishman, Raging Bull) it was still fucking fantastic. The Narration switches flow so well. Everyone with a major part played it brilliantly and even the little characters are great as per every Marty film. Special shoutouts to the two cops who turn up at the house when Ginger is off her chops and the nepo dickhead slot machine manager.
It’s literally impossible for the De Niro - Pesci combo to miss they have unreachable chemistry together, it’s really beautiful to watch. Everything just flows so well I was in my element the entire time and had an amazing time with this. I’m a simple man and I like what I like. American gangster flicks, give em to me every day and twice on Sundays. Hell yeah.
