"Today, it looks like Disneyland. And, while the kids play cardboard pirates, mommy and daddy drop the house payments and junior’s college money on the poker slots."
One of Scorsese's best. In terms of Cinematography and Costume Design, they really put everything into this. This film is like a highway, and the climax in the third act is like a sudden, high speed breaker. The performances are impeccable from everyone, especially from Sharon Stone. She portrayed that character of a junkie, troubled, distressed, and a problematic woman so well, it actually made me remember Kathy Bates from the 1990 classic 'Misery' for some reason. Joe Pesci goes along as the low patience guy as he always does, and nailed it obviously. No words about DeNiro, he's the usual awesome. I absolutely loved the music, when I first watched this a couple years ago, 'The House of the Rising Sun' became an instant favorite and it is still to this day in my favorites playlist. I don't know if it's fair to say, but this is actually a perfect-ish film. I didn't witness any flaws, the runtime didn't bore me a bit, and watching this again after such a long time felt like a whole new experience once again. Also, I really love the cinematography in this film, it is clearly Scorsese's best shots ever put to screen. Other than that, this is worth multiple rewatches. Hail, Mr. Scorsese.
