Hugo

this is THAT movie for me. Hugo is the film that made me interested in filmmaking. Without it, I would not be as passionate about film as I am today!  I haven’t seen a lot Scorsese, but I remember the first time I saw this movie so clearly. I would have been around 8 or 9 and I simply couldn’t take my eyes away from the screen. I think that’s what film SHOULD do.  In one scene towards the middle of the film, there’s a dream sequence in which Hugo turns into an automaton. I was a very anxious child and normally something like this would have bothered me or freaked me out. But not this time. I was so entranced by this movie and its atmosphere, I kept watching, despite my fear. This movie will always have a special place in my heart and I’m forever grateful to Mr. Scorsese for his work.
