Phantom Thread
"Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick."
This is without a doubt, unquestionably, one of the most gorgeous films I've ever seen. From the wonderful direction and cinematography from the great Paul Thomas Anderson to the wonderfully crafted love story that folds in between it all, it's a story that just feels right.
Daniel Day-Lewis and Vicky Krieps have a chemistry on screen that's simply just a delight to watch unfold. Reynolds' existence is very particular and careful but I love throughout the film his and Alma's love and understanding for each other only grows despite the major differences, the desire for one another is conflicting but prominent.
The costume design and the set design is truly some of the best I've seen in a film. 1950's London has never looked more alive, as well as the tremendous and dapper suits, dresses, everyone looks their part and visually, aesthetically, it's really beautiful to look at during this 2 hour and 10 minute runtime.
Paul Thomas Anderson's vision feels so specific and unique here, I love the camera movement as well as all the creative shots that is showcased, I didn't expect Phantom Thread to leave this big of an impact on me after watching but that's just the thing that special films made by incredible filmmakers does.
