Hocus Pocus
This movie brings me so much joy it should honestly be prescribed by doctors. The Sanderson sisters are the ultimate trio: ridiculous, theatrical, and completely unmatched. Every line delivery is quotable, every look is iconic, and together they’re just pure Halloween chaos in the best possible way.
It was also a movie crush moment: human Thackery Binx. I was hooked from the second he appeared, and then he turned into a cat and I had to question everything. The soundtrack? Perfection. The story? Comforting, funny, spooky enough for kids but still sharp enough for adults. There isn’t a single beat that feels wasted.
As a kid, the VHS lived in the Halloween decoration box, only to be rescued the second we started putting up cobwebs after Bonfire Night. That ritual felt sacred. And the look of it, that vintage 90s grain makes the whole thing feel warm and fuzzy. It doesn’t care about being polished or “cinematic” in the modern sense. It just is, and because of that, it pulls you right in.
Movies like this are why nostalgia exists. So we can rewatch them every year and pretend life is as simple as trick-or-treating, singing witches, and a talking cat.
If cinema is about joy, this is the peak.
