Thief
“I have run out of time. I have lost it all. So I can't work fast enough to catch up. I can't run fast enough to catch up. And the only thing that catches me up is doing my magic act.”
Frank - A man who had his life stolen, who steals to get a glimpse of normalcy back, gets advice about not lying by his best friend in prison. He then forces his future partner on a date (after being 2 hours late) and quite literally says “this is where the romance happens”. Believe it or not it- romance does happen. It happens in a diner booth, dim green lights, and two cups of coffee. Just two people, who have both lost prime years of their life agreeing to do this whole normal life one more time after one last heist.
How could you not fall in love with this.
The heists, the controlled rage, the competence James Caan carries. Most directors probably would love to have half a film like this in the filmography and this was Manns’s first studio film??
THIS SHIT IS GOOD JUST GO WATCH IT
