About Time

Everything Richard Curtis writes or directs is peak cinema. I love his rom coms What can I say, I love time traveling plots on movies, there’s something in them that thrills me and makes me wonder if we are going to be able to do it in a future. What if it was posible for me? What would I do with it? This movie summarize what a hopeless romantic would do with it and certainly, I’d have done the same with the powers, frankly. Repeat and not having to suffer with embarrassing moments or chats with someone, prevent future events. What I should have liked is having some key points on the Tim life, which can’t be changed for any reason in particular. I know they tried to do something like that at the first part of the final of the movie but come on, it could have been a littler better, all this time traveling rules could have worked way better.  But this isn’t just a time traveling story, is also a love one. Richard Curtis knows his shit alright, he has written such great movies (and many of my favorite films) in the rom com genre, notting hill, love actually, four weddings and a funeral and my personal favorite, Yesterday. How he writes his characters and his meet cute is perfect (except for Charles and Carrie in four weddings, my god what a trash couple that is). Here the story between Tim and Mary is adorable, yeah he needed to go back in time to make happen some things between her and him, but come on, I know you would do the same to get with your crush if you have time travel. I mean I would too return back in time just to experience my dates with my gf (they’re so perfect).  AND THAT FATHER AND SON RELATIONSHIP?? My god it’s so fucking beautiful, such well written and acted, it’s perfect. Love the sub/secondary trama. The point is, this is a theme that hasnt been that much explored in media, time traveling for love reasons. I loved the movie and I quietly think is one of Richards great films.
