Oldboy
Oldboy is a film that I’ve been meaning to watch for the longest time. This is an incredible entry into my exploration into foreign cinema. This is a film that is truly broadening my horizons as to what film truly is and exploring all of the avenues that different countries can explore with cinema. This may be the perfect exploration of revenge, vengeance, and doing what ever it means necessary to protect the ones you love. This is a true example of tension and thrilling nature in film, keeping you on the edge of your seat with moments that keep your brain ticking and asking what and why. The dialogue dropping hints and clues all throughout as to why he had been captured for 15 years, it was so beautifully written in a truly disturbing nature. The plot of this film is one of the most haunting yet compelling stories I’ve ever seen. Evergreen throwing the roles reversed card on Dae-su and putting himself through the same situation and torture to get back at him for all the rumours, this is one of the best endings in cinema and one of the best plot twists too. The film is beautifully shot and has incredible cinematography. I can’t emphasis how beautifully messed up this film really is, but it had my jaw dropped by the end of it.
Final Review: 5/5 or 10/10
