Sunshine
Sunshine is Danny Boyle’s most ambitious and best film, pushing the limits of the Science Fiction genre and blowing it out the water. It doesn’t rely on aliens or any science fiction tropes, it’s about human’s morality, the choices that make us human and dealing with grief. Internal struggles between what’s right and what’s wrong as well as finding the beauty in life, putting humanity first and doing what’s best for the future of earth. The ultimate sacrifices for human kind. The story is monumental, a journey so grand and audacious in scale that you feel the epic nature of the filmmaking and production. The story is emotional, impactful with important and thought provoking meanings and messages while still including conflicts and action sequences that bring you hooked in. This has some of the most haunting line deliveries and realisations from characters that just leave you with goosebumps.
“Five crew members”Danny Boyle, Alex Garland and John Murphy combine to add all their creative talent to make a steller film. The cinematography from Danny Boyle is impeccable with breathtaking shots that left me in awe. The writing, the story, the screenplay, just speechless from Alex Garland. The Score from John Murphy however, just iconic, everyone knows the music from this film, there is a reason we still hear it to this day.
One of the best ensemble casts in cinema, all young and attached to an ambitious project which I’m sure played a part in projecting their careers, as they are all equally excellent in this. Cillian Murphy, Chris Evans, Rose Byrne, Michelle Yeoh, Mark Strong to name a few. Murphy has one of the best scenes I’ve seen in the whole of cinema, at the end of the film. This will go down as one of my favourite films I’ve seen.
