Inuyashiki

Pasting notes I wrote on my computer when I originally watched this in 2023 “One of the most heartbreaking yet hopeful starts to a show ever, immediately followed by an absolutely horrifying and brutal second episode. While the anime fizzles out by the end, the gradual escalation of “old man with cancer gets superpowers” to “a teenager causes 9/11 on 5 separate occasions after killing the entirety of Reddit” makes the journey worth it. A take on the more realistic superhero genre in anime form which earns both its earnestness and its brutality.”
