This is my kind of movie, with how much I love stand by me for similar reasons to why I love this movie, I'm declaring myself as a coming of age guy. Every time I watch a good coming of age movie it just hit's me hard and I really resonate with it. This time around is no different.
This is another movie I've been waiting to watch for quite a while now and it did not disappoint at all. So good from start to finish, incredible directorial debut from Sean Wang. This movie is fun, comedic, heartbreaking and warming. I'm sure it will have something that everyone can resonate with mainly with the importance of friends and family and those early life experiences which ultimately teach you the life lessons no one else could, which is literally stated by Chris' mom. But this will also resonate with anyone who grew up around the same time, I think he nailed the nostalgia of the time. I would've been very young during the time this movie is set, but there are still some things that I remember from when I was a kid.
I think the acting in this, specifically from Izaac Wang and Joan Chen. I thought they both killed it each time they were on screen and especially when they were together.
These movies are just my thing. I'll never turn down a good coming of age movie that will bring all the emotions front and centre the whole time. I loved this movie very much and I think it will be a special one from this year for me.
