Sing Sing
Give Coleman Domingo every acting award there is.
My most anticipated movie this year which began when I first seen the trailer and I remember thinking, damn that looks almost too good, and that was just from the trailer. Now finally being able to watch it, It has gone and flown past what my expectations were. By far one of the best movies of the year, and dare I say it, but possibly the best.
Coleman Domingo puts on a performance for the ages that should be talked about forever. Every single scene this man is in is either heart shattering or jaw dropping, every line delivered to perfection, and more than deserves the Oscar this year. Just astounding and a complete honour to be able to witness what should be a lifetime performance. But what surprised me the most is that even when Coleman Domingo is taking charge of the phenomenal movie, his Co stars also give an amazing performance. But more specifically. Clarence Maclin. To play yourself might seem like an easy task to some, but to me I think it has got to be a serious challenge especially in a movie like this, and he delivers and then some. The smaller scenes aswell, which I say lightly because well they are smaller in the story, they are grand in their own way. Such as the scene with Sean Dino Johnson, in which he gives a great performance. As well as the scene when the former inmate tells the story about the world outside of prison, I can't remember his name and can't find it anywhere but that small little scene was so well done. By far this movie deserves every acting award this year. It's just astounding. If the rest of this movie was bad I would still recommend this just because of the performances.
Prison has always been interesting to me because I've always kind of felt that there is so many amazing stories that could come out of it such as this one. Because of the situation these inmates are in, it plays on your mentality, how is one supposed to strive to be better and be happy if they feel like they will never get out and even if they do they won't know how to live anymore because of the way the system is. They touch on this when Divine Eye comes to Divine G and says he's a gangster and that's all he knows, or when they are discussing there parole meetings together. I think these scenes are so well made and truly give us a good idea of what that struggle is like with the performances of the two actors, writing, and filmmaking. But the other big thing that relates to that is the fact that they use this program to help better themselves, but we get to watch the two ideas pull at each other and it makes for an amazing experience and watch. We also get to see the challenges with bringing the art's to life well being in such system that would try to stop that.
I truly could go on forever about what is so amazing about this movie. Look forward to watching this again as well as I look forward to award season, where I will be cheering for this one hard. Truly an amazing time with this and I can't recommend this enough. PLEASE GO WATCH THIS.
