Superman

A great adaptation of Superman, scratches that comic book accurate Itch and has great action and comedy, Beautiful looking movie as well. Superman’s core themes are explored exactly how you would expect and displayed by a great performance by David Corenswet. Nicholas Hoult also does a fantastic job as Lex Luthor. A lot of scenes gave me some good goosebumps especially whenever that great score kicked in. Oh and I couldn’t forget about Krypto, definitely one of the greatest parts of the movie. I do have a hard time with some of the comedy as it doesn’t all work for me. Also some of the themes surrounding politics came off as very cartoony like I’m watching a child’s program on TV explaining what is wrong with the world. But at the same time the original comics were intended for children and it wasn’t until later that they became more widely available for all ages. So it’s hard to be mad at it. I just hope the DCU doesn’t slip into full on children’s movies and either continue to maintain the neutral ground or have some of their stories be more adult intended.  Overall a great time with minimal issues. Looking forward to more DC work with James Gunn at the helm.
