The Guilty
Broken people can fix broken people
The message lies in these words. The Guilty is a film about acceptance, about redemption through suffering. By accepting that YOU are the guilty.
An underrated masterpiece by Jake Gyllenhaal.
Talking about the cinematography, this is the film that made my spine shiver. And it's the first time in a long time. Just a room, a computer, brilliant camera angles, Gyllenhaal's expressions and a brilliant film.
This film forces you to imagine. Because the entire time the protagonist is on his phone. Solving a case. It's a film that really really utilised it's time. I mean what the hell else can you ask for in 90 minutes?
I recently watched prisoners and I knew it's gonna land on my top 4. This film? It's prisoners but Jake Gyllenhaal is limited -- he's inside his office, behind his computer. But his acting was literally beyond limits. In my opinion, this is one of the best, if not the best film after the pandemic.
