Get Out
i’m giving get out a straight 5/5. it’s 2024, and after nearly a decade of people trying to copy it, jordan peele’s debut still stands as the absolute blueprint for modern horror. it’s a total flex—simultaneously a high-intensity thriller, a dark comedy, and a social commentary masterclass.
daniel kaluuya is absolute peak here. he plays chris with this quiet, observant energy that makes the 'sunken place' sequence viscerally terrifying. that shot of him with the tears streaming down his face while he's paralyzed is a legendary cinematic moment. and allison williams? she is elite at playing the most low-key sociopathic 'nice girl' ever put on film.
the visuals and metaphors are a massive flex. the way the silver spoon hitting the teacup becomes the scariest sound in the world is pure genius. it’s a movie that rewards you for paying attention—every weird comment from the armitage family in the first act is actually a massive clue for the absolute insanity of the finale.
the soundtrack and pacing are also 10/10. it’s a tight, 104-minute ride that never feels slow. plus, lil rel howery as the tsa agent rod provides the perfect amount of comic relief without breaking the tension of the 'coagula' experiment.
overall, it’s a perfect, high-intensity, and original ride. it’s a movie that actually has some 'balls' and doesn't play it safe. if you somehow haven't seen this yet, you're trippin
